Feng Shui and Vaastu Shastra for Peace and Prosperity

200px-mandala_gross.jpgOver the last few weeks, I have been watching the tremendously funny and very informative TV show clean House comes clean . Now for those of you who don’t knowabout Feng Shui, this show is tremendously informtive and understated. additionally, of course, the show does highlight the psychology behind all the cluttered messes that his team of jokester/experts encounters. One of the things that is not known about very much in the West is something called Muhurta or electional astrology. This is the most auspicious time for “electional” activities to begin. This is when the planets are aligned most auspiciously to give the best result in any major activity that you might be considering.

The next thing and probably the most important, is the actual plans of the house. the lements need to be located in certain directions of the hous (NSEW) for the maximum benefit and prosperity of the inhabitants.  You can find a lot of information on this topic at VaastuInternational.

However, Feng shui is much more popular in the west and has a considerable following. There are many principles that one should consider, for example, in creating a quiet and peaceful home life. How the house is oriented north-south-east-west, as well as how the five elements, earth, water, fire, air and ether(space).
If you are constructing a new house, you may have some choices about this. Of course, there are obvious things, like public access and how the rest of the neighborhood is oriented. Let’s say the house is already built and you are trying to resolve some family irregularities. Let’s look at a simple example of marital irritability. The first thing a Feng shui expert may look at is the orientation of your marital bed. Does the entrance path to the bedroom dissect the bed? Is there clutter in the room? Very often, Feng shui experts recommend that the marital bedroom be a place of tranquility. And that means no computers, no TV’s. Obviously, people get married in order to spend time with each other and to procreate. So having electronic devices in the bedroom is not conducive to that marital bliss.
Okay, now lets look at the rest of the house. In the case of the TV series I mentioned,
they pretty much deal with people who are collector addicts or otherwise obsessed with their belongings. They try to convince these people to let go of their obsessions and then they have a yard sale. At that point, they seem to be able to come up with sufficient funds to restructure the living space to deal with the psychological difficulties the family is facing.
Colors, of course, are going to be very important in the resolution of family problems. These colors for the bedroom, in the case of marital problems, need to be selected carefully, as this will again effect the spiritual togetherness of the couple.
Sometimes a Feng shui consultant will detect that there are inherent structural problems in the house immediately. For example, if the front door opens to an opposite exiting door, there will be difficulties maintaining friends. Possibly, the door will need to be blocked and something more inviting replaces the door. Sometimes, the front door opens onto a large mirror. Again, not too inviting to stay very long. Smaller pictures and mirrors that reflect the light might be chosen for warmth.
Many times, people clutter their existence with memoirs and are unable to let go of them.
This, in itself, may be causing some destructive patterns in the relationship.
If there are already inherent structural imbalances in the house, the Feng shui expert may recommend re-orienting the furniture, or even discarding furniture that may be more of sentimental value than actual real value for the inhabitants.
Sometimes a Feng shui expert will recommend some elements to be added to the environment, such as living plants, like bonsai plants. The Vaastu shastra expert may recommend certain yantras be placed in the living space. These are picture mantras that may reverse the inherent difficulties of the space.
According to one should also sleep with one’s head facing south for quiet sleep.

Classically, astrology only plays into this at the beginning of the construction of the house or building. then an astrologer who is trained in Muhurta can select an auspicious time to start the construction.

New Innovation for Children

dubai.jpg                Just about a week ago, I was chatting with a friend of mine on the West Coast and he told me he was doing a “sketch” for an ashram in Santa Cruz. I was a little surprised, because my friend Sasa Raphael is otherwise known has a hip hop artist and webmaster. So I asked him if he was using Auto-Cad, which is the program that my son-in-law uses for his architectural renditions. He said, no; this was Sketchup.Google.com. So I downloaded a copy and checked it out. Maybe it’s not as sophisticated and as rigorous as what is needed for licensed architects, but it’s pretty far out and jammed pack with geometry and rotation devices and textures and just about anything you might need for a preliminary drawing. Now it’s not on the standard of Kobi Karp, Architect, but it’s challenging. So, I decided to take a run on it with my 5 yr. old granddaughter. And we had a blast! And, I’m pretty sure she’s learning her geometry. The picture is a Burj Al Arab, Dubai city’s 3rd-tallest building.

Genius & Asperger’s syndrome

albert_einstein.jpg Philosophy is really for everyman. However, there have been some truly remarkable sages throughout the ages. They have been visionaries, who , because of their genius, have foreseen the future. Aristotle and Plato recognized that there were cyclical occurrences in nature and thus talked about archetypes descending from the Absolute. In the same way, Carl Jung spoke about these archetypes.Quite often, geniuses have been observed to share some of the characteristics associated with Asperger’s syndrome: there is a delay in speech, there is a high memorization ability, there may be odd physcial obsessions or fixations. However, this great focus may be just what they need to produce the scientific explanations and mathematical formulations that are necessary to persuade the community of researchers to believe in their hypothesis.Such is the case with Albert Einstein and is characteristic of many present day scientists who have a keen desire to prove their theories. Einstein did not speak until he was about 4 years old. Quite often, autistic children go on to have normal lives with the help of proper early schooling and proper supportive parenting. Even Bill Gates is suspected of having this syndrome which is characterized by a lack of social skills and a fixation on ordering objects. I personally have worked with an autistic child and have noticed that he was very bright, but liked to order things in sequences and was extremely repetitive in his speech. He was, however, with me very affectionate, but with other children would display some aggression. I have added the official autism TV youtube channel link here Researchers suggest a possible genetic predisposition and some a causal effect from childhood vaccinations containing Mercury and pesticides on food. some medical researchers recommend chelation therapy to remove the heavy metals.
